Paula and Jan have gone to the QOV Retreat this weekend. It's an annual retreat for the volunteers who work on Quilts of Valor out of Wichita, the QOV--Kansas Bee. From what I have heard, it's a fun weekend, but also very tiring for the participants. Some of them sew all night. In the past, the average number of quilt tops produced at this retreat is abou 10 - 12.
The Stafford American Legion is also having a fund raiser dinner to help raise funds for the QOV--Kansas Bee tonight. There will be a presentation of one of the QOV quilts too.
For those of you that don't know what Quilts of Valor is, check out their national website www.qovf.org

National Quilting Day Festivities
Join us at Sew What Quilt Shop March 19th as we celebrate National Quilting Day. We will be having a sale on patterns, books and notions -- 25% off, that day only. Also, we will be hosting a special project day. We will be making pillowcases for the Quilts of Valor -- Kansas Bee out of Wichita. The pillowcases are used as storage cases for the quilts they present to our wounded soldiers. The kits for the pillowcases will be available for a donation of $2.50 . You can either make them here that day, or take them home, make them and bring them back. All donations collected for the pillowcases will be given to the Quilts of Valor -- Kansas Bee to be used for purchasing batting and backing fabrics for the quilts they make. I do hope you will join us March 19th and help with this worthy cause. Space is limited at the shop for sewing, so if you do plan to join us, let us know ahead of time so we may plan accordingly.
Thanks, and Happy Sewing!
