Going Green, new fabrics and patterns

Hey everybody! Exciting news from Sew What Quilt Shop, we're GOING GREEN! In an effort to be more environmentally conscious, we are offering a class to our customers. In the class you will make a shopping bag. This bag is fully lined with no exposed seams. As a grocery bag, it will hold two (2) gallons of milk. Now, that may not seem all that spectacular, but a gallon of milk weighs approximately eight (8) pounds, to say nothing about the fact that the plastic seams in the handles of a gallon of milk will cut into your hand. So, two gallons would weigh approximately 16 pounds. Try doing that with one of the plastic bags that you get at a grocery store. . . disaster waiting to happen. Sometimes those things won't even hold a loaf of bread without splitting.

So, what does a grocery bag have to do with Sew What Quilt Shop? Come in, sign up for the class, pick out your fabrics, make the bag and every time you bring it back to the shop with you, you will receive 10% off your fabric, books and patterns purchases. (Of course, you don't have to just use it in our shop, you can take it shopping with you anywhere and know that you are helping to save the environment.)

The first class will be held this Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Class space is limited, so sign up early. Cost of the class is $25.00 and that includes your fabrics.

On another note, within the last week, we have received two shipments of patterns and one of fabrics. Come on in and see what's new at the shop.
